Lutand Soccer Academy A Force To Reckon With

The Lutanda Soccer Academy has continued to cause trouble in the Amateur League in Lusaka with their consistence in terms of form. Lutanda are enjoying superb form with the likes of goalkeeper Philemon Kambeya, Midfield maestro Mtaya Mwape, Mwansa Chirwa and strikers Victor Chellah, Esau Njobvu being the main men.

Our first eleven consists of the following: 1. Philemon Kambeya 2. Edris Sailasi 3. Victor Kaliki 4 Joseph Njobvu 5. Brian Chongo 6. Mwansa Chirwa 7.

Matthews Mwaba 8. Kelly Mwansa 9. Victor Chellah 10. Esau Njobvu 11. Dickson Mwale. This team is a hard nut to crack and we bet to be challenged tomorrow as we play our second home game of the Season against Kanyama West FC. We are game and will do everything within our powers to defend our unbeaten run...

THE GRAND PRIZE - LUSAKA PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

What is the Lusaka Provincial Championship and who qualifies?

Lusaka province has been divided into 8 Zones and the champions in each zone qualify to battle it out in the grand finale " The Lusaka Provincial Championship". Having been crowned champions of Munali Zone, we are contenders in the Lusaka provincial championship which will be taking place next weeked at SOS Childrens village.

This entails four games to be played and Lutanda is yet to know the next opponent as the draws will be conducted on Monday next week.

We are upbeat about being crowned champions of Lusaka come Saturday ansd we would like to be good ambassadors against age cheating hence the need for all teams to emrace this spirit for the good of developmental soccer.

We can only promise the best and nothing more or less...

VIVA LUTANDA..

LUTANDA ARE MUNALI ZONE CHAMPIONS

The Lutanda Soccer Academy have been crowned as Champions of the newly introduced Lusaka Zones Championship, the first of it's kind in grass roots soccer in Lusaka province. This was after a hard fought battle with a local rival Crested Crane run by the Zambia Army.

This championship was played in 15 minutes either side withoutr any rest and at the end of the 30 minutes the two teams were locked at 0-0 and later went into penalties where Lutanda made no mistake by converting all the 5 penalties while the oponents fumbled and thereby giving away the converted trophy to new comers the mighty Lutanda.

Clad in their traditional RED and WHITE PUMA attire and track suits, the boys seem to have intimidated their fellows just before kick off as they looked the part.

It was coaches Dickson Chungu and Saulosi Mumba's first attempt at collecting and decorating the Lutanda with honours and they proved they know what they are doing as they did it on behalf of Moses Munsaka who opted to watch the Chipolopolo at Lusaka's Nkoloma Stadium.

As management we are all excited at this great achievement by our coaches and wish them good luck in their future endeavours.

CHIPOLOPOLO STILL SCOUTING FOR A COACH

More than 30 applications – and still counting – have poured into Football House as coaches across the world jostle to have the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) consider them for the job of Zambia National Soccer Team coach.

The Chipolopolo top job was left vacant last week following the release of Frenchman Herve Renard.

The Frenchman who guided Zambia to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations last January has signed a two-year renewable contract with the Angolan FA to steer that country’s Palancas Negras.

Since news broke that Renard had been released from his contract, coaches from Germany, England, Brazil, Croatia, Denmark, Bosnia, Egypt, Nigeria, Malawi, South Africa and Saudi Arabia have sent in their CVs for consideration.

FAZ spokesperson Erick Mwanza told fazfootball.com that:”We’re overwhelmed by the number of applications even before we put out any advertisements calling for the same. This is good for our game as it clearly shows how highly rated our Chipolopolo is.”

“Presently, we’re receiving at least three or five applications everyday from last weekend. As we speak, the number of coaches interested in being considered for the Chipolopolo top coaching job has exceeded 30.

At this rate, we may have over 50 by the end of the week,” Mwanza said adding.

“We have coaches from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East and one from South America, Brazil to be specific. We have former national team coaches of Bosnia, Hungary, Botswana, Lesotho, and Namibia, Nigeria and Congo and top clubs in Africa, Europe and Asia applying.”

“We would like to assure the Zambian people and indeed the football family that in consultation with various stakeholders, the Executive Committee (ExCo) of the Football Association of Zambia will make a decision on this top job in the best interest of the nation and for the good of our game.

The ExCo will soon meet to decide on that matter and as soon as we do, we shall inform the country accordingly,” Mwanza said.

No Zambian coach had submitted an application yet.

MOURNING OF THE FLLEN HEROES CONTINUES 17 YEARS DOWN THE LINE

MOURNING OF THE FLLEN HEROES CONTINUES 17 YEARS DOWN THE LINE - APRIL 28, 1993 - APRIL 28, 2010

FAZ CHIEF, MINISTER LEAD GABON MEMORIAL - Wednesday, April 28, 2010 Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Kalusha Bwalya and Deputy Sports Minister Maynard Misapa are leading hundreds of Zambians in commemorating the 17th anniversary of the Gabon air crash. The ceremonies are taking place at the Heroes site at the Independence Stadium in Lusaka. What has come to be known as the Gabon Disaster happened April 28 1993 shortly after the Military plane the Zambia national soccer team was using to fly to a 1994 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Senegal. Shortly after a refueling stop in Libreville on their way to Senegal for a 1994 World Cup qualifier, the Buffalo went down killing all on board. Zambia’s darkest hour!!! An official report into the 1993 plane crash blamed a mechanical fault in the left engine. The first report, released - 10 years after the national tragedy indicated that then the pilots switched off the still functioning right engine by mistake because of a "poor indicator light bulb" causing the plane to lose all power and crash. The report, released in parliament by then Vice President Nevers Mumba, said that the loss of power and lift indicated the failure of both engines but said the government may have wished to have this confirmed it by experts. THE OFFICIAL REPORT The report also said that the pilot was tired, having just flown back from Mauritius the previous day. The Zambian national football team had to play a World cup qualification match against the Senegal national team. The DHC-5 Buffalo, AF-319, had not been flying from December 21, 1992 to April 21, 1993 so test flights were carried out on April 22 and April 26. The Buffalo departed Lusaka, for Dakar with planned intermediate stops at Brazzaville, Libreville and Abidjan. After refueling at Libreville, the aircraft took-off at 22:44 hours, one hour and 45 minutes late. See About FAZ section for more details on the Gabon Disaster Speech delivered by FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya to mark the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the Gabon air crash.

Wednesday 28 April 2010. The Honourable Deputy Minister of Sport, Youth and Child Development, Ministry officials, Government officials, National Sports Council of Zambia officials Executive Committee members of the Football Association of Zambia Representatives from other sports associations Dear colleagues of immediate families of our heroes Representatives of clubs and associations Soccer fans Members of the Zambian football community Members of the press Dear friends On this day 17 years ago, we were recipients of news of the passing away of our gallant men for whom we gather to remember. Like we have assembled today from all walks of life; from different fields and undertakings, so we received that news those many years ago. And today, we recollect that day because the memories of events that followed the news of their tragic death will remain embedded in our lives and history forever. We mourned their passing. At the dawn of a new millennium, we honour them because they ran a good a race; we honour them because they were great ambassadors for this great country, for Africa and for the game; we honour them because they died for a cause which is so dear not only to us but the whole world. That is why after that tragic plane crash, we all held our own and carried on from where they left off. That was the best way to honour their memory and keeps their dreams alive; dreams which we shall continue to pass on from one generation to another because of our great soccer heritage. Hon Deputy Minister, Ladies and gentlemen, as we honour them, we celebrate their achievements because they went out to serve us and the nation as distinguished players and eminent ambassadors. Since then, our football has moved along with the rest of the world, scoring many notable achievements both on and off the field. And those successes trace their roots to our collective hard work, professionalism and the work that our heroes did. There is no one who can write our football history or indeed that of our nation without a mention of those noble men. Dear friends, Going forward, the challenge is for us to continue working hard and ensure that the professionalism and successes we have been scoring continue into the future. We are alive to fact that as time passes and the years roll-by, new innovations and developments will come into the game. That is why over the years, the Football Association of Zambia has stated its desire and proposal to review our focus of annual commemorations. We therefore wish to reaffirm our desire to consult widely on that new proposition. Working together, we will open a new leaf in that regard.

I am sure that the coming year or two should pave the way for that and ultimately implementation of those proposals especially as we go towards the 20th anniversary mark. Hon Deputy Minister, dear friends, I thank you for attention. God bless you all.

Lutanda players to face Uganda U-17 with Zambia U-17

Lutanda players to face Uganda U-17 with Zambia U-17

Zambia National under-17 soccer team will face their Ugandan counterparts in the Preliminary round of the Rwanda 2011 African Youth Championship.

The Aggrey Chiyangi coached lads will play away in the first leg on the weekend April 10-11 before hosting the Junior Cranes a fortnight later in the return leg.

“Over the last two months, the U17 technical team has been busy identifying talents from across the country. This exercise culminated in a match between the Lusaka based U17 boys and their counterparts from Eastern Province who they beat 8-0 in a training/exhibition match at the Woodlands Stadium on Youth Day.This exercise will continue because we have many young talents who can form part of the U17 and U20 teams,” read a statement issued by FAZ earlier today.

This will be the second time Chiyangi who is now in-charge of premier league leaders Green Buffaloes will be guiding the young Chipolopolo Boys in the qualifiers.

In 2008, his side consisting of Emmanuel Mbola and Jimmy Chisenga were eliminated from the same stage at the hands of Namibia.

In the squad called, one of Zambia’s fallen heroes who perished in that plane crash Numba Mwila’s son Junior has been included.

Last year’s Zambia Schools’ Coca Cola Cup top scorer Emmanuel Phiri has also made the list. Phiri led Mwinilunga High School to the finals were they lost to Chingola High School.

Meanwhile, FAZ has clinched an International friendly match for the Under-20 side against neighbours Malawi. The game will be played in Malawi on 10th April. And the team will have to do without two of its technical bench members.

Coach Honour Janza who guided the team to victory last December in the Cosafa Under-20 Championship has stepped down as he has taken a full time job at Football House as technical director while Team Manager Gift Chaipa looks set to be booted out after being entangled in a fraud cases which is currently being investigated by the Police.

Chaipa who was FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya’s right hand man is believed to have started with the famous petition which demanded the removal of some of the members of the executive committe. And finally, Zambia has moved two players up on the latest FIFA Coca Cola ranking released today in Zurich.

Zambia is now 71st and 13th on the World and Continental ranking respectively. African Champions Egypt is still top in Africa followed Cameroon.

From Southern Africa, Malawi has maintained its place in the top 20 on 17 while South Africa has dropped to 20th.

Lutanda Soccer Academy To Publish All The 30 Under 17

Lutanda Soccer Academy To Publish All The 30 Under 17 Super Amateur League Fixtures and Results

2010-03-18

The management and senior staff of the Lutanda Soccer Academy have pledged to publish on their website every single result for the Midlands Football Association Under 17 League in which their team feature. Speaking to jaurnalists earlier this week, Lutanda Soccer Academy Director of Programs Moses Banda confirmed that it was part of Lutanda's Contribution this year to ensure the world is kept abreast with the happenings in Zambia.

Lutanda Soccer Academy is one of a few Soccer Academies in Zambia who have their own website from which every bit of information about them can be obtained at the blink of an eye. They have technocrats who ensures the websites is updated especially with sporting events all over the world. Moses Banda further said this was just the beginning of a lot more great things to come. Asked whether Lutanda Soccer Academy was ready for the challenges in youth soccer management, Mr. Banda responded in affirmative but also stressed the need for the new and existing soccer Academies to work together toweards achieving a common goal of ensuring the soccer reserves are flooded with serious talent. This must be taken seriously by well meaning administrators from all the 9 provinces of Zambia. We need to kill the syndrom of concentration along the line of rail and embrace a more comrehensive and all embracing approach.

Speaking at the same event, Lutanda Soccer Academy Chairman for information and publicity Mubanga Tembo confirmed that Lutanda is here to stay and to deliver accordingly. Mr. Tembo also dispelled rumours that Lutanda will bring unfair competition in the league stating that effectiveness and effeciency will be enhanced with the coming of Lutanda and further urged all the administrators of various developmental programs to work together and formulate a committee to face the newly formed technical committee at the Football Association of Zambia managed by Mr. Honour Janza and Mr. Daniel Jere. He stressed the need for Academys to get recognition by the soccer mother body like some other countries are doing. In Zambia Academies are not appreciated by a number of teams especially those in the KCM Premier league which is the highest soccer league in Zambia and they feel Academies should contoinue to produce players who must play for these big teams for nothing. He sumed up by saying together we stand, devided we fall!!!

Lutanda Boys and Girls Launches 2010 Preparations

Lutanda Boys and Girls Launches 2010 Preparations

The Lutanda Soccer Academy operations team has conclude a comprehensive training program dubbed

"Operation 6 - 4" whose main objective is to adequately drill a team that will bring honours to mother Zambia during the main lined up local and Internationa soccer tours.

Operations 6 - 4 in that the number 64 is very significant in Zambian piolitics and just in the mind of every proud Zambian as it has a touch of liberty to it. On October 24, 1964 Zambia gained it's independence from the colonial masters the british and we are using the 6 - 4 as a lucky number for Lutanda as a new entry into the long list of Academies in Zambia.

Lutanda in conjunction with it's local partners such as Lusaka Youth Soccer Academy of Chilenje in Lusaka, Play Soccer Academy in Kalingalinga, Venta Stars of Chainda and probably Chiparamba are working on plans to undertake a series of tournaments with the title "Meet Lutanda Soccer Tournament" to be held in three compounds of Lusaka. This task is huge and calls for time investment among all stakeholder in order to bring it to fruition.

Mr. Leenus Kaputa who is the Executive Chairman for Lusaka Youth Soccer Academy jokingly asked Lutanda for a friendly game but we took that up seriously and on a date to be announced Lutanda will play LYSA in Lusaka within the next few days. That information will reach all of you our members, friends and partners.

This program will embrace peer educators and Lutanda will take the opportunity to speak about HIV/AIDA, ALcohol and Drug abuse among other issues. We shall as well take every opportunity to lobby for support by introducing the Lutanda Soccer Academy Website which might prompt some financial support from well wishers and all interested individuals.

We intend to showcase what we have to offer as Lutand which is very different from all the existing Academies. We are convinced we have the innovativeness and the mental strength to meet all the challenges of modern youth soccer and Lutanda brings to the fore a unique touch to drive forward the development sector of soccer in Zambia. Invitations will soon be sent to all the teams that will take part in this tournament. Of course there is a participation fee which automatically goes to the Lutanda coffers.

Our motto at Lutanda is "Deeds Not Words" and as such we are action auriented and would not like to pre-empty every detail but our humble appeal is for all the soccer loving Zambians to come and watch this tournament in numbers and see what Lutanda has brought into the soccer scene which has been missing all along.

Cheers for now and God Bless!

The Football Association of Zambia Introduces Technical Committe

The Football Association of Zambia Introduces Technical Committee

The Football Association of Zambia in it's quest to partner with the existing youth soccer development entieties called for a stakeholders meeting with all Academies in Lusaka among them the newly incorporated Lutanda Soccer Academy to discuss among other issues the falling standards in Zambian soccer. Lutanda Soccer Academy was represented at this meeting by i'ts Senior Management officials Mubanga Tembo and Moses Banda.

This meeting was well attended with almost all the giants of developmental soccer in atendance. Notably among the represented teams were:

  1. Lusaka Youth Soccer Academy
  2. Chilenje Soccer Academy
  3. Bauleni Stars Football Academy
  4. Chiparamba Great Eagles Soccer Academy
  5. Edusport United Football Academy
  6. Breakthrough Sports Academy
  7. Lutanda Soccer Academy

The purpose for this meeting was to find a way of regulating all soccer academies and recognition of the important roles they play in the development of soccer players and to quash the notion that Academies are not supposed to be compansated for the investment in developing players.

This however has come at a time when we as academies were planning to establish an independent body to speak and look into the many issues sorrounding this section of soccer especially that the mother body FAZ has been siding with the premier league teams in demeaning the contributions of the Academies even when it's evident that the majority of the players in the Zambia National Team come from these same unrecognised academies.

Below are some of the points that were highlighted:

  • Registration of all Academies with FAZ
  • Introduction of a Standard contract document with all teams in the FAZ/KCM Premier League
  • All players from the junior National Team (Under 17) including a coach to come from Academies
  • Introduction of Annual Soccer Festivals
  • FAZ to avail Zambia National Team jersey to any youth team taking part in international tournaments
  • Academies to be represented in the FAZ Executive Committee

Next meeting to review the above raised issues to take place at Football House on Friday November 27, 2009 at 9am.
